KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Center (MITEC) is reopening its facilities to provide Malaysian businesses with a platform to showcase, connect and engage with buyers, sellers and investors with the goal of reviving the business.
The business events sector contributed RM 9.2 billion to revenue in 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic.
âWith the reopening of trade events, we look forward to once again hosting all conferences and exhibitions,â Acting General Manager Mala Dorasamy said today in a statement.
MITEC, she said, has helped strengthen SMEs and significantly contributed to job creation. âWe have generated over 841,000 hours of work for concert workers and created jobs for over 100,000 people since our inception. Mala said.
Understanding Malaysia’s transforming business landscape and the need for value creation, MITEC introduced the Smart Trade Zone (STZ) platform and co-working space, an incubator program with facilities that includes benefits for businesses to converge as well as help in harvesting potential new business leads.
“We are ready to help by providing premium co-working space as a solution to help restore business and reconnect with markets,” she added.
Mala said all MITEC staff are fully immunized and will ensure strict adherence to government-mandated SOPs in the implementation of all events.
âMITEC is positioned on an enhanced transformation mode, encompassing a vision to serve the local and international trade events marketplace with unique products and services. Successfully regarded as an international exhibition venue, the center is effectively moving towards a multi-purpose international center for commerce, congresses, exhibitions and events, âshe said.
Mala said MITEC has been a game-changer in the country’s resilient business events sector and is committed to helping catalyze local business recovery and reform.
âWe are contacting the ministries, agencies and companies concerned. Collaboration is essential for business recovery. Integrated and creative solutions and pooling of resources will translate into an effective and efficient turnaround for Malaysian businesses, âsaid Mala.
MITEC has also partnered with the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) for the âLets Meet Tomorrowâ and âLet’s Meet Locallyâ campaigns, aimed at boosting the national professional events industry and encouraging new national events in Malaysia.
