Paris [France]March 5 (ANI/Sputnik): France will propose to its partners concrete measures to secure five main Ukrainian nuclear installations on the basis of the criteria of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the Elysée announced on Friday.
Ukraine has four active nuclear power plants – Zaporizhzhia, Khmelnitsky, Rivne and Southern Ukraine. The fifth in Chernobyl is currently sealed.
“In the coming hours, France will propose to its main partners concrete measures to ensure the security of Ukraine’s five main nuclear objects based on the technical criteria of the IAEA,” the palace said in a statement, noting that French President Emmanuel Macron met with the director of the IAEA. general and supported the latter’s efforts for constant safety monitoring of nuclear facilities in Ukraine.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry said Ukrainian authorities had attempted an overnight provocation by accusing Russia of creating a source of radioactive contamination at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.
While patrolling the area adjacent to the station, a group of Russian National Guardsmen were attacked by a Ukrainian sabotage unit who opened fire on them from the multi-story windows of an educational complex and training facility located outside the nuclear power plant. The firing points of the Ukrainian sabotage group were suppressed by return fire. Leaving the building, the sabotage group set it on fire.
The fire has been extinguished and the nuclear power plant is operating as usual, with background radiation at normal levels, the Russian military said. The US Embassy in Kiev in a tweet accused Russia of bombing the nuclear power plant. (ANI/Sputnik)
