THE REPUBLIC of Korea has purchased medical supplies worth $ 500,000 to help Jamaica in its fight against COVID-19. This donation is due later this month. It will benefit more than 20 health establishments in the 14 parishes.
Earlier this year, the South Korean government provided humanitarian aid to the Government of Jamaica worth US $ 200,000 to help build Jamaica’s testing capacity to respond to COVID-19.
The South Korean government has supported the Jamaican government’s efforts since the onset of the pandemic, with donation of equipment valued at over US $ 300,000 in November 2020, and test kits valued at US $ 200,000, in collaboration with the Korea East-West Power Company, the same year.
Relations between South Korea and Jamaica are long-standing and successful. South Korea, despite its own challenges, continues to help Jamaica overcome the challenges of the lingering global health crisis.
According to LIM Baejin, charge d’affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Jamaica, âI hope to continue to be this bridge of hope between our two nations as we seek to overcome and rebuild after COVID. Korea appreciates Jamaica’s friendship and sees a future of continuous collaboration for our people.
