Jakarta (ANTARA) – Vice President Ma’ruf Amin has expressed hope that all Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) in Indonesia will have facilities and support activities that benefit students and people nearby.

“We want theponderren to have supportive activities, so that they produce not only ulema but also santrippreneurs,” Amin remarked during a visit to the Tebuireng Islamic boarding school in Jombang, East Java. , Saturday.

The Vice President noted that Pesantren Tebuireng is setting an example for other Pesantren in the country to develop facilities and support activities.

Pesantren Tebuireng has grown rapidly developing not only religious schools but also middle and high schools, he noted.

“It also has economic activities and a hospital as you can see,” he said.
