US thanks Fiji for help with Amadea investigation – FBC News

The United States thanked the Fijian authorities for their cooperation regarding the seizure of the Russian superyacht Amadea at the Lautoka wharf.

According to the Department of Justice, the case is being investigated by the FBI’s New York field office with assistance from the FBI’s Office of Legal Attaché in Canberra, Australia, Security Service diplomat from the State Department and the United States Embassy in Suva, Fiji.

General Counsel Andrew D. Beaty of the Counterintelligence and Export Control Section of the National Security Division and General Counsel Joshua L. Sohn of the Money Laundering and Asset Recovery Section of the criminal division handles the seizure.

The Department of Justice’s Office of International Affairs, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, Customs and Border Protection, and the U.S. Marshals Service provided significant assistance.

FBI Director Christopher Wray said they will continue, with their international partners, to track down those who help advance Russia’s malign activities and ensure they are brought to justice, no matter what. no matter where or how they try to hide.

The US Marshals Service said it would continue to lend its expertise in support of the task force’s efforts to take possession of assets seized from Russian oligarchs during these confiscation operations.
